The importance of media in the promoting of Breast Cancer awareness in Africa cannot be underestimated. Five years ago we started our live Television broadcast ‘Ronnie J Show’. The show discussed captivating topics that attracted a huge audience while educating them about Breast cancer. It was a very effective but expensive strategy.
Part of the programs genre was to travel across local communities and engage the people in conversations that affected their health. There are still a very high proportion of women who prefer to use local herbal concoctions to treat their diseases and shy away western medicines.
For over two years (2009-11) we broadcasted across two television stations, visited over twenty locations and interviewed numerous people. The program stopped for a year due to funding challenges and started again on Silverbirb Tv in 2013 for nine months. We are looking forward to bringing this section of our Cancer awareness campaign back very soon.
As we celebrate our Sixth year in service we say a big thank you to NTA Benin, Silverbird TV Benin, Idia Renaissance, Auchi polytechnic, University of Benin, College of Education Ekiadolor, School of Health Sapele Rd and so many more that we cant mention you all.
We are very grateful for your support and we look forward to another five years of victory with you all. For more pictures please click.
As we prepare to travel to South Africa in March 2015, we need volunteers to come with us to help spread the good news, give back to those who don’t have the privileges that we have.
