As for us (CCA), 2014 has been very challenging but fun, we thank God for all the wonderful Volunteers he keeps sending to be a blessing to our work and the passionate Partners that supported us and the new partners we are looking forward to working with.
2015 is looking exciting, and we are preparing to make it a more effective year, by reaching out to more rural communities in Africa, educating more ethnic minority women on Breast cancer across the world through media and increasing our volunteers and partners.
When CCA started this small program seven (7) years ago, we knew it was going to be a long and hard journey. We anticipated the challenges, but the more we made progress the more we realised how little impact we were making each day, to the huge problem. Can’t get used to the pain of watching a women walk away sad, knowing that she needs urgent medical attention and can’t be treated, due to lack of funds or facilities. Imagine!
Imagine a day when CCA volunteers will be able to visit communities and freely carry out the required tests and screenings (FNA, Mammography & Ultrasound) needed for the women with any signs or symptoms during program. Imagine volunteering doctors (from across the world) working alongside the local doctors carrying out free surgical procedures. Still try to imagine a world, where after these free treatments we are able to offer free medications, after which the local health centres continues the aftercare in their NEW but small hospice.
Sound to good to be true, we know, but we believe that this day is coming. It’s our dream and one day is shall come to reality. The health challenges in Africa are as big as an ocean, and we taking one step at a time, one community at a time and one country at a time. If we can make a difference in one community we believe that it can trigger a ripple effect that will push more governments, partners and volunteers.
We are very proud to be in this fight against Breast Cancer in rural Africa. Until you have been there to see how big the challenges are it is hard to fully understand. As we look forward to Christmas and the New Year, please say a short prayer for us, ask for the strength and wisdom to do this work, the ability to overcome negative challenges and for more partners and volunteers to support our mission.
As for us we shall not give up, it is very challenging, but we love every moment of it. To volunteer please CLICK here of email firstname.lastname@example.org
